Andy Cairns began his advertising career in his home town of Melbourne in 1994 and since then, it has taken him around the world and back. In 1997, Andy moved to London where he spent the bulk of his career to date. He worked for agencies including TBWA, CHI and BBH before spending two years in New York.

In 2009, Andy was appointed Managing Director of Inferno and in the ensuing five years, he helped it grow into one of London's most successful independents.

His award cabinet includes a Gold Lion from Cannes and The Australian Marketing Institute Grand Prix for Effectiveness. Before returning home in October of 2017, Andy was Global Brands Director at Havas, responsible for the Reckitt Benckiser and Huawei accounts.

Matt Houltham

Matt gets excited about helping businesses grow through creating ideas that change behaviour. His clients have spanned most industries and have included World Vision, IBM, Telstra, Qantas, Nike, Bupa, News Corporation and many more including a range of early growth stage businesses and start-ups.

A regular conference speaker and commentator in the marketing press, he has also sat on many industry committees and judged a plethora of advertising awards.

Michael Nearhos

Michael Nearhos was appointed GM Brand Experience, NAB in October 2016, having worked at NAB since mid-2013 in a number of marketing and brand leadership roles. This includes Acting CMO during 2016. He manages the NAB brand portfolio, including MLC, and plays a key role in driving customer thinking across the group. The role leads brand strategy and communications, media strategy and buying, sponsorships, agency relationships, and enterprise-wide content and social, events and local area marketing.

Passionate about brands, corporate responsibility and reputation-building, Michael led the reinvigoration of MLC in its Let’s Save Retirement and Life Unchanging campaigns, and the launch of NAB’s biggest repositioning in six years with the More Than Money campaign in mid-2016. He has led the award winning NAB AFL Mini-Legends campaign, and manages the relationships with AFL, FFA and Live Nation.

Michael spent almost 10 years at Qantas in a number of roles, concluding with GM Strategic Marketing. He led the Qantas brand plan, worked on the float of Qantas, the formation of oneworld, product development, and on the Qantas and Frequent Flyer insights programs.

Michael has worked previously with CommSec and Commonwealth Bank, Insurance Australia Group, Newscorp Australia and set up an innovation lab for Virgin Australia in 2012/13. He spent almost five years as Director of Strategy with global agency, Interbrand in London. This included leading the global repositioning for Barclays Bank, Holiday Inn and other banking and hotel brands.

Originally a corporate finance lawyer, Michael enjoys bringing both creative and analytical thinking to marketing, to drive effectiveness and strong commercial returns. Outside of work, Michael lives at Bondi Beach and is an active lifesaver and patrol captain of North Bondi SLSC.

After 20 months the evidence-led marketing, research and technology development company has produced new, independent research to show commercial, multi-platform TV remains the most effective platform for Australian advertisers and their agencies. This independent validation has been shared - using ThinkTVs distinct tone of voice - with Australia's marketing and media community through consistent and imaginative marketing, media relations and outreach work. ThinkTV also works behind the scenes to advance TV industry technology development, with its shareholders – Foxtel/MCN, Nine, Seven and TEN – and OzTAM to make TV easier to trade. Kim started as ThinkTV inaugural CEO in July 2016 following more than two decades' marketing experience in the packaged goods, telco, finance and tourism industries. She has also worked in both creative agencies and media agencies in the US and in Australia. She has led marketing projects and departments for companies as diverse as Unilever, Pepsi Cola, Optus, AMP and Tourism Australia. In 2015, Kim was recognized as one of the top 15 marketing officers in Australia by CMO magazine and following her appointment at ThinkTV was named in the AdNews Power 50 List in 2016 and 2017.

Simon Ryan

Simon Ryan

With more than 25 years in media, Simon Ryan is one of the media industry’s most respected and influential leaders. Simon joined Dentsu Aegis Network’s (DAN) Carat Melbourne business as Managing Director in October 2009 before being promoted to CEO of Carat Australia & New Zealand (ANZ) in 2013. He was then appointed CEO, DAN ANZ in 2016 and has subsequently led the business through significant transformation and growth, keeping it at the forefront of the digital economy. Simon has driven extensive organisational and cultural change, achieving continual strong growth for the business in a challenging market. Under Simon’s leadership, DAN has been recognised by RECMA as the leading communications group in Australia for the past two years.

Simon is a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion (D&I), and champions diverse and inclusive thinking and action to generate better outcomes for DAN’s clients, people, partners and communities. To ensure DAN has continues to evolve its approach to D&I, DAN AU’s Diversity & Inclusion Council was established in December 2016 and has initiated a wave of positive change across the Network, with a focus on governance; flexibility; leadership; talent and communication.

Simon holds Business & AFA qualifications and has received a number of industry awards. Outside of work Simon loves to spend time with his family, running, cars, travelling and has a passion for business knowledge and exploration. Luke Smith

Luke returned to Australia in December 2017, after 8 years in the UK. With the launch of Seven’s new digital offering late last year – Luke has taken on responsibility for the Digital Sales Team in Melbourne as well as Programmatic & Audience revenue nationally.

Prior to Seven, Luke was at The Exchange Lab in London – a buy side trade desk and was part of its successful acquisition by GroupM in late 2015. Before moving to the UK he had also held a number of roles within the Marketing & Media space most notably at Seven and Fairfax.

Luke is determined to educate clients and colleagues alike on the benefits of Programmatic and how they can take advantage of the technology for Premium Long Form Video content.

Katie Spearritt

Dr Katie Spearritt is Chief Executive Officer of Diversity Partners, a specialist consultancy that helps companies to achieve diversity progress and create more inclusive and high performing work environments.

After two decades in leadership roles in Australian and global firms (Hewlett Packard, Coles Group, NAB), Katie founded Diversity Partners in 2009 as a strategic partner to organisations wanting to progress diversity and inclusion. Since then, Diversity Partners has worked with more than 200 organisations, including many top ASX firms and a range of media, legal and sporting organisations.

A ‘Gruen’ devotee, she has a keen interest in the way Australia’s media and marketing industry is starting to take diversity seriously.

Katie holds a PhD in Business & Economics from Monash University, Melbourne and a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours) and University Medal from the University of Queensland.

 Simon Stefanoff

Simon began his career as a software engineer and over the past 17 years has held Technical Director roles in agencies in Australia and the UK, delivering innovative digital solutions for the world's largest brands.

He describes himself as a pragmatic technologist, with a strong belief that technology isn't always the right solution to a business or marketing problem. However he maintains that when applied skilfully emerging technologies such as AI can unlock enormous value for both brand and customer alike.

As part of his role at Deloitte Digital he leads the Voice & Conversational UI team, where he helps clients understand and make effective use of voice and conversational technologies in creating the customer experiences of the future.

Michael Stephenson

Michael Stephenson was appointed as the Chief Sales Officer of Nine in March 2016, and is responsible for advertising revenue across all of Nines broadcast, streaming, on demand and digital publishing assets.

Prior to his current role he was the Director of Sales for the Nine Network and the Director of Sales for Ninemsn as well as holding a variety of roles at both the Seven Network and Network TEN during his 23 years in broadcast and digital sales.

Michael is a director of Think TV and OzTAM and holds a Bachelor Degree in Management (Marketing) from the University of South Australia.

Nicole Turley

Nicole Turley has more than 20 years’ experience at the forefront of the commercial and investment side of the media industry, including more than three years at MediaCom. With expertise that tracks across sales, television, media investment and trading on both client and agency side, Nicole’s understanding of – and ability to leverage – the nuances of the Australian media market to ensure strong client outcomes are second to none.

Nicole is responsible for MediaCom’s activation and investment product and outcomes nationally, across all channels, and brings to the role the ability to see all sides of the media equation and use that perspective to craft deals that deliver win/win outcomes that keep clients coming back for more.

Her wide category experience includes banking and finance, FMCG, automotive, travel, telco and tech, and her understanding of the different qualites and characteristics of each is evident in the strong results for which she has become renowned.

Nick Young

As National Sales Director, Nick Young oversees the sales team for the company’s online, mobile, programmatic IPTV channels.

Since joining MCN in 2011, Nick has been responsible for the overall strategy, leadership and sales excellence of the Digital business.  He works closely with senior advertising clients to innovate across MCN’s media assets for maximum revenue growth, whilst leading the development of MCN’s multiscreen assets to provide relevant and unique advertising solutions.
With over 15 years’ experience in the UK and Australia in media agencies, digital media sales and within media owners across print publications and radio, Nick has developed a well-rounded understanding of the broader media landscape. In doing so he has found himself specialising in the commercialisation of digital broadcast platforms and leading successful sales and operations teams for the benefit of advertisers.
